Amber starts her day as a professional in the financial industry— but by three o’clock, the heels come off and you’ll find her toes on a yoga mat or in the sand in the little “Village by the Sea” of San Clemente, with her husband, three children and two chihuahua mutts. When her daughter was diagnosed with Epilepsy at age 5, Amber discovered the world of children’s yoga through researching more holistic ways to help her cope with the seizures, both physically and emotionally.
She became a certified children’s yoga teacher and started The Playful Practice to bring the benefits of yoga to all children, especially those with special needs. She teaches classes several days per week, produces Take 5 segments on YouTube for families to bring yoga practice home, and is nearing the completion of her first book— the first in a series of children’s yoga stories. She also loves to volunteer, from team mom in Little League, to Epilepsy Support fundraising, and being a pledging member of the Junior Women’s Club.
Amber works hard to find balance in life between the professional, modern world and her homegrown, hippie roots at heart. She is a lover of all things DIY, believes that nature has created the best medicines, finds sun, sand and surf good for the soul, and loves teaching her family to be good stewards of the earth. She’ll be writing about yoga for kids and families, clean eating with easy recipes (that have to meet her junk food loving hubby’s approval!), homeopathic remedies, attachment parenting and being a “granola mom,” green living, urban gardening, surf culture and anything else the salty sea air may inspire. You can find Amber on Facebook and read more about her adventures with kids and yoga on her Playful Practice blog.
